Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by using high heat to melt the parts together and allowing them to cool causing fusion. Robert Stevens & Sons have welders who are all coded in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium in MMA,TIG And MIG, which we carry out in house and onsite.

Metal fabrication is the creation of metal structures by cutting, bending and assembling processes. It is a value-added process involving the creation of machines, parts, and structures from various raw materials. Robert Stevens & Sons have a range of skilled fabricators when it comes to fabricating meaning we can take on any element of metal fabrication from structural, architectural and bespoke work. With over 40 workshop stuff we have it covered in the following –

  • Welders
  • CNC operating/Machining
  • Break Press Operators
  • Powder Coaters
  • Polishers
  • Assemble Teams

Robert Stevens & Sons have the capacity and the quality to erect/install a range of finished products such as large and small structural steel and architectural metal work In doing this, we will work closely with the main contractors to complete vast projects to the tightest of programmes and site logistics. We can provide all the plant and access needed to complete your project on time whilst working safely. We have experienced site personnel, all of whom are fully trained, with CSCS accreditation carrying out erection and installation of projects throughout the UK. All operatives are highly qualified and experienced with industry qualifications such as NVQ’s, IOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS, CPCS, CCNSG, IPAF, PASMA and First Aid Certifications.

Our pull out testing involves attaching a small piece of equipment to the exterior bolt, nut, screw or fixing. This is then pulled to the designated stress load level to determine how strong and secure the fixing is. Even though materials used for bonding may be different, this method remains the same for all types of fixings, Robert Stevens & Sons offer this service will a full back up report on completion of project.

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. Robert Stevens & Sons currently have a two ovens one at 6mx2m and a 4mx2m.

Laser cutting is a thermal cutting process where the cut is made using an amplified light beam – laser. A high-power laser is specifically directed to cut metals for accurate results. Laser cutting can be used for any metalwork, including industrial applications. It is more precise and less energy-consuming than plasma cutting, but is more limited when it comes to cutting thick materials. Robert Stevens & Sons currently have capacity to cut mild steel, stainless steel ,aluminium, Zintec, brass and copper and all desired thicknesses.
